The Department of Political Science at Chinese Culture University is one of the first political science departments in Taiwan with a long history; its faculty includes Ph.D.s from the U.S., U.K., Germany, Japan, and various prestigious universities in Taiwan, and has a diverse background. The Department aims to cultivate students' enthusiasm for public affairs, sensitivity to political issues, and the ability to think and judge rationally about political issues. The Department emphasizes the integration of political theory and practice, and offers a political internship program in the senior year, which allows students to work in the Legislative Yuan, the legislature, public relations firms, and non-profit organizations. Graduates will go on to work as civil servants, public opinion representatives or their assistants, NGOs, think tank researchers, pollsters, media, public relations, etc.

  2. The Department also emphasizes the cultivation of multiple interests and abilities, including thinking skills, communication and coordination, problem solving, and critical thinking skills, which are useful in any industry or field. The department's curriculum is designed to span multiple disciplines, including sociology, economics, anthropology, and psychology, and to emphasize cross-disciplinary learning in areas such as marketing and communication, public relations, technology, and the environment.
  3. Emphasis on the integration of theory and practice: the political internship course is offered in the senior year, and students are arranged to work in the Legislative Yuan, parliament, public relations companies and non-profit organizations.
  4. In addition to the traditional career paths of running for elections, becoming a political figure, or becoming a TV political commentator or journalist, the political science department also offers career paths for civil servants, diplomats, assistants to public representatives, administrative work in political party organizations, administration in private enterprises, employees in international organizations or NGOs, planning or publicity in communication or public relations companies, research assistants in think tanks, and work in social welfare organizations.
